Learning What Foods Will Help Burn Fat

By PHT Support

by Lynn Reynolds

If you’re eating the typical North American diet, you are probably consuming too much fat. You should not be getting more than 30% of your calories from fat. If you want to lose weight, you’ll probably need to cut the amount of fat in your diet. Do not, however, make the mistake of cutting all of the fat in your diet. Some foods will help you burn fat. Let’s examine what foods will give you the fat you need in your diet and why no-fat diets fail.

The number one reason that extreme no-fat and low fat diets fail is that people mistake low fat with healthy. Just because a snack is low in fat doesn’t mean that it is good for you.

Processed foods contain empty calories and sugars that will cause you to gain weight. Focus on eating whole foods like fruits, vegetables, and grains. These foods will give your body the nutrition it needs without the high levels of sugar and salt found in crackers and cookies.

If you are cutting down severely on fats and calories, you’re body will react by going into starvation mode. Instead of burning the fat, your body’s metabolism will slow down and it will work to store the fat that it has available. The only way you can lose fat is to feed the body what it needs.

You’ve heard before that not all fats are equal. Saturated fat can lead to heart disease and should be largely avoided. Meat and cheese is full of the fats that you don’t want in your diet. So cut down on your intake of these foods and focus on the foods that provide the essential fatty acids.

One food that is great to incorporate into your diet is the avocado. The fat in the avocado is made up primarily of mono-unsaturated fats. In addition to the healthy fats of the avocado, you are getting other nutritional benefits such as vitamins A, B, and E. Avocado’s will give your body the energy it needs during your muscle building routines. And they’re great for your immune system, skin, and hair.

Flax is another great food. Flax seed oil contains both Omega 3 and Omega 6. There are several ways you can add flax seed oil to your diet. You can also buy flax seed oil from health food stores and some grocery stores, but make sure it is kept refrigerated and keep a close eye on the expiration date. You can drink it straight or add it to smoothies if you don’t like the taste.

Ground flax seeds are another way to add this food to your diet. Whichever way you choose, be sure to not heat the flax as that destroys its beneficial properties. If you want the benefits of flax seed oil without the hassle you can purchase flax seed oil pills.

A third food that can help you burn fat by adding fat to your diet is walnuts. Walnuts contain the healthy fats and are a good source of protein. Adding a handful of walnuts to your breakfast in the morning will ensure that you have the energy you need for your day. Keep walnuts in your desk at work to provide a healthy snack.

Replacing the saturated fat with these three foods will help you lose weight and be healthy. Although you can have them daily, be sure you are not relying too much on these foods and focus on a well balanced diet.

How To Get A Flat Stomach With Exercise

By PHT Support

by Jose Loni

The best way to get a flat stomach is with exercise. Regular exercise, training with increased intensity and interval training are key factors to getting a flat stomach. By increasing the frequency of exercise, intensity of your exercise program and incorporating interval sets, an oxygen debt will occur causing the body to increase its metabolism and burn fat longer.

The goal is to build and develop muscles through exercise. The more lean body mass that we have, the more calories are used up as energy from our food intake, as well as from excess body fat, since muscles need more fuel to function.

Disciplined, daily physical activities allow our bodies to get used to a certain level of movement and metabolic activity. Moving around more raises our metabolic activity as compared to not moving much. Therefore, when we’re always active, our metabolic activity will stay raised just to keep up with our activities.

High intensity training is a way to train within our target heart rate zone, as calculated by our age. We should aim to train within our target heart rate zone of intensity, which will cause our metabolic activity to rise because our body and muscles are working harder.

Training in bursts of energy raises our metabolism by constantly challenging our muscles to work at a higher level to meet the sudden bursts in energy demand. Because the muscles are constantly being unexpectedly called to work and perform, they are in a state of preparation rather than rest, and therefore, use up more fuel in the form of excess fats.

In addition, using weights while doing this type of training burns fat even more effectively. Our muscles work harder when weights are used in rapid bursts, and then letting them rest and recover. When we repeat this cycle a few times, the muscles will get hungry for more fuel in order to sustain the intense training.

Basically, engaging in these types of workouts lead the muscles to go into something known as oxygen debt. This occurs when carbon dioxide and lactic acid builds up in the muscles. Now, our body has to work harder at supplying more oxygen to the muscles so it can clear away the lactic acid and other waste products that have built up. This nourishes and allows the muscles to recover.

So, in order to get a flat stomach in 3 stages, we need to commit to regular physical workouts, high intensity workouts, and interval training. Doing these will benefit our body by letting it burn fat very efficiently and ultimately, getting us a flat stomach.

Crunches May Be Stopping You From Getting Six Pack Abs

By PHT Support

by Jose Loni

Lately, the controversial question is, are crunches bad for six pack abs. No, they are not bad for six pack abs, but if your goal is to attain visible six-pack abs, then you need to focus on other aspects of exercise and diet. Concentrating on resistance exercises that increase our metabolism to burn fat, monitoring our diet and reducing the amount of stress in our lives.

Crunches do not target what needs to be trained. Crunches are good for stabilizing, strengthening and developing the muscles of the abdomen. But to achieve defined ripped abs, overall fat-burning activities must be done.

Overall fat burning exercises are activities that allow us to train our whole body to increase our metabolism. By increasing our metabolism, we are better able to burn fat and utilize the excess belly fat, which results in more visibility of the abdominal muscles.

Metabolic activity has been shown to increase through resistance training exercises. Increased metabolic activity allows the body to utilize the fat as a fuel source and reduce overall body fat. The muscles that we develop from resistance training makes our body become better able to use our body fat to fuel our activities.

Our diet plays an important role in getting six pack abs. Eating smaller portion meals more frequently throughout the day allows our bodies to maintain energy levels and stabilize our blood sugar. Also, eating better quality foods, well balanced in protein, carbohydrates, fat, minerals and vitamins, will help us to achieve our goal of six-pack abs.

Stress affects our bodies in a way that makes our bodies react in an emergency mode. When our bodies are in a stressful situation, Cortisol is released and causes fat to be stored in the abdominal area.

There are activities that are effective in reducing our stress. Activities like yoga, tai chi and deep breathing have all been shown to decrease stress in people.

Are crunches bad for six-pack abs? No, crunches are not the answer to achieve defined six pack abs. We need to focus on activities that allow for overall fat burning, through resistance training, monitoring our diet and reducing the overall amount of stress in our lives. Having the discipline and understanding to change our daily habits, we will be able to achieve six pack abs.

Lower Ab Exercises May Not Be The Answer

By PHT Support

by Robert Casewood

In our quest for leanness and the fight against The Flab, a lot of people make the common mistake of putting their faith on the effectiveness of isolation exercises. In getting a lean abdomen, it might make sense to think doing lower ab exercises in order to target belly fat and bring out the six-pack most gym-goers yearn for is the answer.

It’s quite easy for people to believe isolating belly fat through lower ab exercises can be done because of the sheer number of exercise gadgets advertised to give you a six pack in a few weeks for “just minutes a day”. Although some of these can be effective in developing the muscles in the lower abdomen, they don’t really do much in eliminating belly fat.

The reason why new “breakthrough” gadgets and diet supplements are still introduced to the market each year is because in reality, there is no single gadget, drink or exercise that will target belly fat!

If nothing is really done about eliminating the belly fat concealing the contours and striations of ab muscle underneath, the tremendous effort doing all those lower ab reps and strengthening the muscles will be all for naught. Getting that lean, shredded look comes about when the midsection is relatively free of excess fat.

The physiology of the human body is set-up in such a way that stored energy in the form of fat cells is concentrated mainly around our midsection, buttocks and thighs. No matter how developed and strong our abdominal muscles are, we won’t really get that lean and ripped appearance on our gut if there’s belly fat hiding it from plain sight.

Lowering our body fat percentage to low enough levels to expose the contours of the abdominal muscle is the only way to get Achilles-like abs on your torso. Of course, how developed the muscle tissue is will dictate the extent of “sculpting”.

Doing exercises that combine muscle-building resistance training and fat-busting cardio exercises that keep your heart rate just below the maximum percentage is the quickest way to get rid of the troublesome blubber hiding those six pack abs from public view.

Adopting healthy eating habits and way of life can also aid us in our fight against belly fat. Choosing the right foods to eat and while doing the right fat-burning exercises can greatly shorten the time it takes for you to bust those six pack abs out in the open.
